Feels like you are sleeping inside of a cloud, This review is from: Smartsilk Duvet Comforter, King Size (Kitchen) I bought this locally last year, to replace a down comforter we'd been using for the past six years, which had developed a lot of 'bold' spots, due to some of the down from the top panels shifting downward and creating clumpy pockets along the edges.Having worn garments made from silk, I was aware of its thermal quality, and yet I had my doubts that this silk comforter could perform as nicely as a good quality down comforter, but it turned out to be even better. It doesn't have the puffy look of the down (which I like a lot and it took me a while to get used to the flat look), but it is so very light that it really feels like you are sleeping inside of a cloud. Lovely, really. The low conductivity of silk keeps warm air close to the skin, pretty much like down does, but without the allergens. Incidentally, silk comforters are a very good choice for people with allergies. This comforter is nicely constructed. There's no shifting of the silk... I like it because it is comfortable 3 seasons, despite my poor personal temp. regulation. The fibers seem evenly distributed even after washing. It is very nice not to have the dust mites and allergens like down but also not the sweaty discomfort of synthetic fibers. |
